FAQ

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR STYLE?

I consider myself a documentary photographer for adventurous souls. I draw inspiration from many different places and try to implement them in my images. I love the raw emotion of photojournalism as well as the more polished look of editorial photography. I believe in pretty lighting, incredible backgrounds and choosing locations very carefully. During weddings I am an observer most of the time with very limited intrusion, only when it is desired to achieve a particular artistic vision.

WHAT FIRES YOU UP?

Crazy pretty light.

Meeting interesting people.

Hammocks.

My nutty kids.

Sunrises and starry nights on the beach.

Picking fresh fruit from my garden.

Dancing like a fool.

Good food.

Driving with the windows down and music up.

That post-workout endorphin rush.

Time on the water.

Helping my clients preserve the most important moments of their lives by providing images that stand the test of time.

DO YOU HAVE A STUDIO?

Since most of my work is on location, I currently work out of a home office at the east end of Panama City Beach. I will occasionally meet with clients there, but prefer to meet on-site, where there are fewer rambunctious kids demanding Holly’s attention. I’m always open to Skyping as well!

DO YOU HAVE AN ASSOCIATE PHOTOGRAPHER/SECOND SHOOTER?

All of our wedding collections with six hours or more of coverage include two photographers. Intimate weddings are shot exclusively by our lead photographer, Holly.

WE LOVE YOUR STYLE BUT WOULD LOVE TO HAVE SOME TRADITIONAL PORTRAITURE. IS THIS SOMETHING YOU DO?

Yes, we do traditional portraiture as well! During each wedding and session we take the time to take a few more posed photos.

HOW DID YOU GET INTO PHOTOGRAPHY? HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN IN BUSINESS?

My background is actually in engineering, and photography was a hobby for many years. While working in Washington, DC I was able to hone my skills through courses at the Smithsonian Institution and the Art League School. After having my first child I moved back to FL to be closer to family. Since then, I have studied photography through online courses and in-person workshops and also started a program through the Stanford Graduate School of Business to further my small business knowledge. The transition from a hobbyist to a professional photographer occurred in 2009 and I’ve loved every second since!

WHAT DO WE DO IN CASE OF INCLEMENT WEATHER?

The weather here in Florida is known to be temperamental, at best.  Sessions are limited to one a week limit to give clients some flexibility in rescheduling. Weddings clearly can’t be rescheduled for weather.  I can shoot in almost any condition except lightning.  I never mess around with lightning!

DO YOU HAVE INSURANCE?

Absolutely! I have always run my business by the book, from paying taxes to making sure I’m fully-insured. If you are working with a venue that needs a certificate of my insurance then I’d be happy to provide one!

ARE YOU A MEMBER OF ANY PROFESSIONAL ORGANIZATIONS?

I’m a member of the Professional Photographers of America (PPA) as well as the American Society of Media Professionals (ASMP).

DO YOU HAVE BACK-UP GEAR? HOW DO WE KNOW OUR IMAGES WON’T BE LOST?

I believe in being overly prepared, which is why I carry at least two camera bodies and multiple lenses with me to every event. After your wedding/session I come home and immediately make two copies of your files in different locations – one copy on an external hard drive and one online. My membership in PPA also provides data recovery services in the event the unthinkable happens. (But it won’t!)

DO YOU SHOOT WITH FILM OR DIGITAL?

During the years I spent a hobbyist photographer, I shot exclusively with film and spent many a night working in the darkroom; this experience has given me an appreciation for photography as a form of art. Although I’ve been known to still pick up my 35mm camera for fun, I find that the creative latitude that digital gives is beyond comparison. When I shoot, I not only shoot for the moment, but have a clear vision of what the finished image will look like. By shooting digitally, the possibilities are limitless!

HOW MANY PHOTOS WILL WE RECEIVE?

Every wedding and session is unique, and the total image count depends on many factors. A good average is between 60-100 images per hour of coverage.

DO YOU EDIT YOUR PHOTOS?

While I make every effort to perfect each image in-camera, some editing will occur afterwards. Every image that you receive will be fully color-corrected, retouched and sharpened. Under no circumstances will un-edited photos be given to clients.

CAN WE GET ALL OF OUR PHOTOS IN BOTH COLOR AND BLACK-AND-WHITE VERSIONS?

I live for bright, vibrant colors and so most of your delivered images will be in color. However, if there is an image that I feel would look better in black and white then I will convert it. None of the images in black-and-white are available in color. If you have a personal preference for more black-and-white images then please let me know ahead of time!

WILL WE RECEIVE THE RAW, UNEDITED FILES?

These files are not available for purchase or viewing. All of the images delivered to you will reflect my high standards and anything extra is discarded by the studio.

WHAT RIGHTS DO WE HAVE TO USE/PRINT OUR PHOTOS?

All weddings include a print release that allows you to print your photos whenever you want! Most of my clients choose to print their photos that are 8″ x 10” or smaller on their own and then they come back to me for larger prints and canvases. The studio shall retain the copyright of your images and you may not publish your images or sell them for profit without our written consent.

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER OUR EVENT? WHEN/HOW WILL WE SEE OUR PHOTOS?

As soon as your event/session ends I head straight to the home office to backup your images, carefully selecting the images that best represent the emotion and story of the day.  Within 4-6 weeks of your wedding date (or 2-4 for other sessions) you will receive a link to view your password-protected gallery. When your galleries are ready, I’ll be in touch about delivering your images on either a USB or via digital download. Then we can talk about creating art pieces for your home or designing an heirloom album!

I’M REALLY ATTRACTED TO PHOTOS WITH A VINTAGE LOOK TO THEM. CAN YOU CHANGE YOUR EDITING TO LOOK LIKE THAT?

No. I have worked hard to refine my style and my editing is a huge part of that. There are some photographers that do an amazing job editing with a more vintage or faux film look, but I find that a brighter, sharper look not only suits my shooting style, but helps me deliver images to my clients that withstand the test of time.

DO YOU OFFER ENGAGEMENT SESSIONS?

Indeed! I love photographing engagements because it not only gives us a chance to get to know you before your wedding day, but for you to get used to working with us.

DO YOU DO OTHER KINDS OF PHOTOGRAPHY?

I’ve found that I am able to provide a higher level of quality and service to my clients by not trying to be a jack-of-all-trades. Currently, I only offer documentary-style weddings and editorial/commercial photography. If you’d like a recommendation for newborn photography or seniors then I’d be more than happy to make some!

HOW DO I RESERVE MY DATE?

Please contact me for booking information. A 30% retainer is required to hold your wedding day.
