When I was a kid, I thought it was funny to write in the dust on people’s cars. My artistic graffiti was typically limited to smiley faces and sailboats, but I always saw it as a little way to blow off a little steam and brighten someone’s day (whether they appreciated it or not). Josh and I weren’t childhood friends, but I am pretty confident that he did the same thing as I. Because as a man he chose to take a note from my childhood playbook and step it up a notch – writing his proposal on the top of his truck so Jenne would see it when she looked off their balcony. After over six years together, many miles, and the highs and lows of going through life together, Josh and Jenne formalized their commitment to one another. This time, it wasn’t written in dust but made atop the sand and signified by two rings.
As Jenne walked down the aisle in her flowing wedding gown, I turned around to see a stoic Josh crack just a bit. It was obvious to everyone there how overwhelmed with love he was and the giddy smile on her face showed that the feelings were mutual. Afterwards, the two danced by the bay under the twinkling lights at the Destin Bay House. Their family and friends danced with them and then laughed and cheered as they drove off in a vintage car to start their new life together. I am certain that their lives will always be full of laughter and love because they have one another. Here are a few highlights from the day.
